Special Guests Visit a Special Place

We recently had a guest come to Hotel Denver from Florida.  He brought his family and even invited some friends that live in another part of Colorado to join him for a couple of nights.  Before he arrived, I spoke on the phone and exchanged numerous emails answering questions and fulfilling requests.  I knew that this trip was very important to him and to his family and to be honest, I was hopeful that we would live up to his very high expectations.  He arrived and spent his weekend at Hotel Denver and seemed to be happy when I met him upon his departure.  I didn’t expect to hear much more from him but yesterday, he sent me this email. 

Mr. Olpin,

I am writing to tell you it was my pleasure to meet you last Monday after you returned back from your trip to I believe California. I would like to tell you it was a great pleasure to stay at the Denver Hotel. In short my stay surpassed all of my expectations. Your hotel is clearly the best in Glenwood for many reasons. Staff could not be any better and friendly along with helpful. I am an early riser and even talked with the night clerk early in the morning. She had told me only when I asked how her night was that she had taken care of a possibly hard situation that night with someone.   I was directly above the street and did not here anything. Your Hotel and your staff is top notch. They carried on super in your absence. It is for sure even though I  saw some new people being trained , that you run a tight ship. Please know that I will spread the news that the Hotel Denver a.k.a. Star Hotel is by far the best choice in the area. The food and service in the brewery was not only wonderful but a good value. I just can not say thank you enough. Please pass this on however you see fit.

Join in the 33rd annual Strawberry Shortcut race in Glenwood Springs

Are you a runner looking for a mountainous town race? Then come run in the Strawberry Shortcut and join the festivities of Strawberry Days celebration in Glenwood Springs! This race begins downtown Glenwood Springs and takes you through the town, parks, and quaint subdivisions of Glenwood. The race is finished on 7^th street right by the historic Hotel Denver and train station.

Even if you are not a runner and just looking for a fun family event, this race suits all by providing a 10K, 5K, and a 1-mile fun run/walk option.

Race Times: 10K @ 7 a.m.

                   5K @ 8:15 a.m.

                   1-Mile fun run/walk @ 9:30 a.m.

Start Location: Centennial Park located on 9^th Street and Grand Avenue

Fast Cars and Sunshine

Owners of Dodge Vipers from around the country converged in Glenwood Springs at Hotel Denver over Memorial Day weekend.  They enjoyed the scenery and the amazing roadways in the valley including Independence Pass, Redstone, Mclure Pass and Highway 82. 

The Viper Club’s stay included a trip to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for lunch and a mingle.  The participants were also fortunate to have excellent weather conditions, apart from a bit of wind which is normal for this time of the year.

The group leader boasts that this is the best year the Viper Club has ever had in Glenwood Springs and promises to return again next year.  The north parking lot at Hotel Denver was reserved for the 15 Dodge Vipers of all flashy colors.  Locals and visitors alike strolled through the parking lot checking out the clean machines. 

The management at Hotel Denver and at the Glenwood Canyon Brewing Company gave the group high marks and hopes that they will return again next year with possibly more participants.
